Ruby Bellamy is a visual artist focusing on the connections between craft, the home, and humans.
Ruby discovered her love of quilting during her last year of study at Norwich University of the Arts, where she graduated from in 2024 with First Class Honours.
She uses traditional quilt making skills to influence her artworks, alongside her skills in crochet, sculpture, and woodworking. Her artistic practice is rooted in a background in graphic design, where her interest in traditional printmaking led Ruby to focus on crafts and hand work.
A large influence on Ruby’s work are the skills handed down to her through generations of her family; Ruby is continuously researching and using generational skills within her creative practice.
Ruby is constantly adding to her toolbox of skills - she has a passion for curation and research, with exhibitions being a key interest for her.
Alongside her creative career, Ruby has recently started to explore artist administration and production roles, which allow her to develop her skills in project management, social media, and artist communications. She has found an interest in working with creatives in different industries, from fine art, to theatre, or film. She believes her work in different industries will help her to better understand the needs of audiences, fellow creators, and build her confidence for personal projects.
Outside of her creative practice, Ruby manages Wisbech Gallery with the Blackfield Creatives team; here she is developing her curatorial skills, and assisting with the running of the Gallery.
In this role, Ruby has taken the lead on the Gallery’s graphic design, social media presence, and general communications with artists. She has found an interest for project organisation and execution, in all aspects from the marketing, to event running. However, Ruby’s passion lies within the curation and install of exhibitions.
Ruby hopes that through her work with Wisbech Gallery art will be come more accessible in her home town - something she is very passionate about. She is working with Blackfield Creatives to develop exhibitions and events to make the arts easy for newcomers, and to open up the arts to the next generation of creatives in East Anglia.

Alongside Ruby’s other roles, she has worked to gain skills and confidence in a number of communications roles.
She has found that her understanding and love for the arts, paired with a passion for design and accessibility has given her strong marketing and communications skills.
Currently, Ruby is working with artists to develop their admin and promotion processes, namely through their online presence and social media management. She has also been working with Gateway Film Festival, as a Programming Assistant to develop e-newsletters, events and social media programmes.
Ruby is currently unable to take on new clients for communications support, but is keen to work with more artists and organisations in the future.
