About Me

Ruby Bellamy is a visual artist focusing on craft, drawing and dialogue.

I discovered my love for quilting during my last year of study at Norwich University of the Arts, where I graduated in 2024 with a First Class Honours, in Fine Art.

My practice takes many forms, such as quilts, pastel drawings, embroidery and sculpture; I find that embracing a wide range of mediums allows me to play with new ideas and express my thoughts more clearly.
I am fascinated by the images you see when your eyes are closed, and my continuous inner dialogue; recently I’ve been exploring these areas through their connections to the natural world around me, my love for the Fenland landscape, drawing and embroidery.

Alongside my creative practice, I have a passion for curation and research, with exhibitions and accessibility being a key interest. This is something I have been building upon through my work with Wisbech Gallery.
I have also been developing a love for project management and arts production, with a focus on visual arts, film and theatre - enjoy working with creatives in different industries, from visual arts to theatre and film. I feel incredibly lucky to be working across different sectors of the arts with so many incredible creatives; this work has furthered my understanding of audience needs, and gaining confidence for my personal projects.

In 2026, I was awarded a Young Creatives Bursary by Norfolk & Norwich Festival, to support the development of a Class Portrait Quilt in partnership with Leverington Primary Academy and Blackfield Creatives.
I was also one of three artists who received a support award from the Wisbech Lions Club. The award was gifted in 2026 to support three young, working artists, located in Fenland, to support their career development.

Wisbech Gallery

Outside of my creative practice, I manage Wisbech Gallery with the Blackfield Creatives Team; here I am developing my curatorial skills and assisting with the running of the Gallery.
In this role I have taken on the Gallery’s graphic design, social media, and general communications. I have found an interest in producing and management of events and exhibitions, using Wisbech Gallery as a platform to promote wider access to visual arts in Wisbech and surrounding areas.

I have worked with Blackfield Creatives since 2024 on a number of exhibitions, including the Gallery’s Open Exhibitions, and annual DRAW competitions. I hope to build on my curation skills, while also teaching others to open up the arts to the next generation of artists in Wisbech and Fenland.
