Design Work and Communications
Before studying Fine Art, Ruby was training in Graphic Communications; due to this background she often works on design projects alongside her creative practice. Her design work tends to focus on posters, promotional images, or catalogues for arts organisations and individuals. Ruby’s implements her interest in traditional craft and practices by combining digital design with hand drawn elements or collage.
Some of her biggest design projects include the Wisbech Gallery exhibition catalogues, and designing the Gallery’s promotional materials which are shared on social media and the Gallery’s website. She also uses these design skills to support artists and organisations with their social media presence through her roles as a programming or admin assistant.
Ruby has since been using her skills within her creative practice to create templates and designs for sewn and crochet artworks. She finds the crossover between digital design and craft allows her to create stronger designs and streamline creative processes.
